What is Financial Coaching with Points for Change?

You're probably thinking why do I need a financial coach when I could just set my own budget and spend a little time each month managing my finances?

That might be the case for most people, but then I would love to ask you why do personal trainers exist? I could just hop on that machine after looking up workouts I found online.

Or why does someone join a program for weight loss? I could just count my calories and weigh myself daily.

If you haven't guessed already, coaching is all about accountability, structure, and a listening ear. You absolutely can manage your finances on your own and if you do, you probably don't need Points for Change right now. That's okay! However, if you love accountability and want to improve your finances right now keep on reading.

What is Financial Coaching?

Financial Coaching is all about getting your financial sh*t together starting at the ground floor. Of course investments and cryptocurrency sound sexy, but I'm helping you to curb unnecessary spending, set up a budget even if it scares you, have a safe space to talk about your spending and saving without shame or guilt. I like to help people rebel against what we’re “supposed” to do by societal standards.

Topics I work on with clients:

  • Setting and maintaining a budget

  • Saving more money without compromising your lifestyle

  • Preparing to quit your full-time job for flexible work

  • Considering side hustles or unique sources of income

My specialities:

  • Working with young women ages 20-35

  • People who live in major cities

    • Your financial breakdown might look different because you live in an expensive city

  • People experiencing life transitions

    • Moving in with a partner, getting a big raise, saving up for a large purchase (a wedding, home, etc.)

What is a Financial Advisor?

Financial advisors are typically for people with a higher net worth and they operate in a highly regulated industry. They will help with investments, tax planning, insurance and other planning needs. You can read more about Financial Advisors on sites like Investopedia or NerdWallet.
